Internet Infidels Video Store - Science Fiction
Kirk, Spock and McCoy are called back from shore leave to the Enterprise for an emergency mission, only to find themselves kidnapped by a renegade Vulcan desperate to discover the secret that lies beyond the "Great Barrier" at the end of the universe. Ultimately, the trip becomes a metaphysical quest for the meaning of life, an attempt to unveil the mystery of creation itself. The journey culminates in a confrontation between Klingons, Vulcans, Humans, and an all-powerful alien being known only as "God."
Often called the greatest science fiction film of all time, this Stanley Kubrick - Arthur C. Clarke collaboration is loosely based on the philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche. Human evolution is traced from apelike creatures learning to be biped to the evolution of homo sapiens to "star man." A timeless classic, the special effects and score are as mesmerizing today as they were thirty years ago. "A unique masterpiece, immensely influential" - Leonard Maltin.
