1. All <IMG> tags must have ALT, HEIGHT, and WIDTH attributes.
2. Individual graphics files should not be larger than 60K (but smaller is better if image quality is satisfactory, see 4. below), and no page should contain more than 180K (less is better) of total graphics.
3. Acceptable graphics file formats are GIF and JPEG. Progressive GIF is good; progressive JPEG is not.
4. Photographic images should be saved as JPEGs, adjusting the quality factor on saving to trade off detail against file size. Nonphotographic images should be saved as GIFs (with background color transparent, if appropriate).
5. Always view test versions of graphics in a browser alone before using them, and make adjustments to suit your needs.
