Gordon S. Stein[ 1941 - 1996 ]
[ Author Bio ] [ Purchase Books by this Author ] The Jesus of History: A Reply to Josh McDowell (1982) Stein's response to chapter five of Josh McDowell's Evidence That Demands a Verdict. The subject of the chapter was the extrabiblical references to Jesus. Notice: Stein's article "The Jesus of History" has been superseded by Jeff Lowder's Josh McDowell's 'Evidence' for Jesus--Is It Reliable?, which is part of the larger The Jury is In project and which is far more comprehensive and more up-to-date. "The Jesus of History" is preserved for archival purposes only. Since the author is deceased, the text will not be updated. Josh McDowell's Charade (1982) "McDowell has produced a leaflet called A Skeptic's Quest, which ought to alarm all real skeptics. In it, he tells how he became a Christian. His story may be typical of how a person becomes a fundamentalist Christian. Especially interesting is how little real scholarship or investigation is required. If his conversion is typical, then we can learn a lot from it." |
